This outdoor upgrade combines dark composite decking with custom decorative feature screens to create a practical, low-maintenance side courtyard. The decking was carefully fitted around the building, doors, fence line and central water feature, while the weathered-steel leaf-pattern panels introduce privacy, texture and a warm architectural contrast against the dark finishes.

The original poolside deck had become heavily weathered and required replacement. We removed the old boards, exposed and prepared the supporting structure, then installed new timber decking around the existing pool and adjoining outdoor areas. The finished deck follows the pool perimeter and building edges with clean border detailing, creating a renewed and practical outdoor space with a rich natural timber finish.

This Toorak pool deck had reached the end of its service life, with weathered boards and deteriorated supporting timbers around the pool perimeter. We removed the old decking and damaged frame, rebuilt the supporting structure and installed PermaTimber composite decking in the American Oak colour. The new boards create a clean, low-maintenance surface around the pool, with precise detailing along the waterline, building, garden beds, columns and narrow access areas.

The original covered deck had deteriorated and required a complete rebuild. We removed the old boards and damaged supporting timbers, cleared the area, installed a new treated-pine subframe and protected the joists before laying new Merbau decking. The replacement deck was carefully detailed around the existing posts, downpipes, doors, raised areas and adjoining outdoor room, creating a strong, continuous entertaining space with a rich natural timber finish.

The original pergola had a tired, deteriorated frame and ageing roof sheets that no longer provided a clean or dependable outdoor cover. We removed the old structure and rebuilt the extended pergola with new timber beams and rafters supported by steel posts. The complete frame was prepared and painted white, then finished with new clear polycarbonate roofing to improve weather protection while retaining natural light across the paved entertaining area.

This complex St Kilda project combined upper-storey window repairs and painting with the complete demolition and reconstruction of the rear pergola. We replaced the original open timber slats with a new polycarbonate roof built to the required fall, then installed flashings, gutters and a downpipe to manage rainwater and protect the connection with the building. The rebuilt pergola, upper windows and upper-storey façade were carefully prepared and painted, creating a renewed and weather-protected outdoor area while refreshing the rear elevation of the home.

This outdoor deck was extended across the adjoining courtyard using wood-look composite decking over a new timber subframe. We also constructed a new Blueboard privacy fence along the boundary to enclose the outdoor area. The deck boards were installed with the KlevaKlip Snap-LOC concealed fixing system, a multi-board fixed-pitch system designed for compatible ModWood composite decking. Its linked engineered-polymer clips set consistent board spacing and lock into the side grooves, leaving the walking surface free of visible screw heads. The system also supports fast, accurate installation while allowing a clean finish around walls, doors and existing services.

The existing outdoor decking and timber garden beds had deteriorated significantly, with weathered boards and damaged sections across the area. We removed the old decking, inspected and prepared the supporting structure, then installed new Merbau boards to create a clean, continuous surface around the home and established garden. The raised garden beds were rebuilt in matching timber, with carefully finished borders, mitred corners and neat detailing around existing posts, walls and tiled thresholds.

This Merbau deck and its broad garden steps had become heavily weathered, faded and uneven after prolonged exposure. The client selected a premium WOCA product for the restoration — a higher-cost coating chosen for its excellent quality and finish. We prepared the existing timber and renewed the complete surface in a deep charcoal tone, retaining the established deck while giving the boards, fascia and stepped edges a clean, consistent appearance and renewed weather protection.

This large elevated timber deck in McKinnon had a heavily weathered, patchy surface with worn coating and organic staining. We thoroughly cleaned and sanded the boards to remove the deteriorated finish and prepare the timber, then applied a fresh protective decking oil. The treatment restored a richer, more consistent colour across the outdoor area and renewed the timber’s protection while retaining the existing deck.

At the client’s request, we built the missing decking sections between several existing decks to create one continuous outdoor surface extending around the home. The new sections were constructed on adjustable plastic pedestal supports, allowing each area to be accurately levelled and aligned with the surrounding decks. Matching timber boards, framed borders, fascia, a new step and carefully finished junctions make the separate areas read as one connected decking system.

We improved access to this Moorabbin home by creating two practical, durable pathways. A raised timber boardwalk now provides a clear route from the front gate to the covered entrance, while a new reinforced concrete path gives reliable all-weather access along the narrow side of the house. Careful framing, edging and junction details connect the new paths neatly with the existing veranda, garden and building perimeter.

We renovated the existing timber deck by replacing the old boards with new composite decking and installing a new wire balustrade, structural posts, a Merbau handrail and safety gates. Once the old decking was removed, several support posts required re-stumping. We levelled and adjusted the existing frame, installed additional joists and corrected the joist spacing to provide the support required by the composite decking manufacturer. These structural improvements created a strong, level and durable finished deck.

We built this large Merbau deck on an adjustable pedestal system, allowing the substructure to be precisely levelled while providing a stable and durable foundation. The project includes broad steps, neatly mitred borders, matching timber fascia and carefully finished details around the existing verandah posts. We thank our client for trusting us with the complete vision and giving us the freedom to focus on thoughtful detailing, quality craftsmanship and a high-quality finish. This is the kind of work we love to build.

We built this custom timber pergola with substantial hardwood posts, shaped perimeter beams and evenly spaced rafters. Each member was carefully measured, cut and fitted to create a strong, well-proportioned structure above the established garden and outdoor area, with exposed connections and clean timber detailing throughout.

We transformed this Glen Huntly courtyard by building a new timber deck, a new boundary fence and a custom privacy screen using decorative weathering-steel panels. The patterned rust-finish panels add privacy and a strong architectural feature, while the adjoining slatted timber enclosure and gate conceal the outdoor service area. The new decking connects the elements into a warm, practical outdoor space.

Bonum transformed this outdoor area in Clayton with a complete pergola and decking makeover. We removed the old deck, prepared the site for the new joists, built a new subframe and installed joist protection for greater durability. The pergola was repaired and repainted, and the old polycarbonate roof sheets were replaced with new roofing to improve weather protection and natural light. New low-maintenance composite decking completed the project, creating a clean, practical and long-lasting outdoor space.
